Posted by Sherry on May 25, '08 10:20 AM for everyone | you know there's a story said that : Couple who dating don't come to this place... will not last longer... anyway... don't believe it. My friends went here when they were seeing each other, and now they are happily married |
 | i like this shot ... nice clear sky |
 | The temples looking so majestic...must have a lot of treasures of history inside. |
 | Am ashamed to say that i have not heard of this place! Thanks Sherry for the information. |
 | Amazing and very interesting! |
 | Wow Sherry, how could I have missed this posting? Haven't heard of this place myself. How far is it from Bali or Borubudur? I fully agree, this place is beautiful...a revelation. Hey, more reason for me to go to Indonesia huh... |
 | I do hope the restoration work would take faster than six years though, coz it would be such a come-on if we can see the insides of these magnificent structures as well, right?
I think someone should get the attention of those governments funding and doing restoration works in the Angkor temples...just an idea =) |
 | well.. i hope the restoration would take faster than 6 years too.. cuz i really wanna go back there again sometimes soon to see what's inside those temples..
oh, fyi.. in the next 2-3 years.. the construction of the road from thai border to seam reap will be finished.. so it means that thousands and thousands of tourists will be going to Angkor Wat ... and its gonna be oh so crowded and not so interesting any more.. i really hope i'll get a chance to go back there soon... hehe Thanks Sherry. Who knows, we might meet each other in Prambanan, hahah. Not a bad idea eh..
Yeah, I'm aware of the road project/s between Poipet and Siem Reap, because I know one of the ADB consultants who worked on it. He was stationed in Siem Reap for 6 months to oversee the start of the project, but that was almost 2 years ago, and I was surprised to see very little improvement. I heard talks in Siem Reap that there may be deliberate delays or slowing down of the road project, because good raods would mean less profits for the airlines serving the Bangkok to Siem Reap route. I hope they're wrong, because it's an awful thought...
And yeah, this situation tears me apart --- I want good roads and faster travel time, but I don't want hordes of tourists spoiling my beloved Angkor Wat. Sigh... |
 | Interesting bas reliefs here. I like the monkeys. |

Prambanan looks like a really amazing place. It is really too bad about the earthquake damaging the site. I hope you get a chance to visit after it get restored.
Take care. |
 | Oh...we all here... Nice memories dear Sherry.... |
