situs megalitik gunung padang ini konon terbesar di asia tenggara. letaknya tak jauh dari jakarta, tepatnya di cianjur selatan, tapi lebih gampang ditempuh lewat sukabumi. lokasinya lumayan terpencil dari jalan utama, masuk melewati area perkebunan teh yang berhawa sejuk, hmmm asyik...sepi...dan damai :-)

pertama kali tahu keberadaannya lewat sebuah tayangan di salah satu stasiun tv swasta. seminggu sebelum kami jalan, tepatnya pas perayaan cap go meh tahun lalu, tak sengaja terlontar ajakan untuk menyambangi situs tersebut.

ya sudah....berburu catper, contact sana-sini, trus jadilah kita berempat (aku, cak nef, uda bach, & heny) jalan kesono. sungguh trip dadakan yang penuh pengalaman baru, murmer lagi ! :-))
jadi pengen kesono lagi neh.....

Gunung Padang Archaeological site is located in Gunung Padang and Panggulan area at Karyamukti village, Campaka, Cianjur. It is the biggest megalithik site in South East Asia. People around the location believe that the place is an effort of the sovereign of Siliwangi in building a palace on one night.

The existence of this site was written on the report of Rapporten van de oudheid kundigen Dienst (ROD) in 1914, also reported by NJ. Krom, in 1949. in 1979 the officials of Ditlinbinjarah, Pulit Arkenas observed the area. By that time, the research of Gunung Padang archaeological site was started. It's mentioned archaeological, historically, and geologicall.

This site is located 50 km from Cianjur. It's kind of holy place which stairs as ways to reach up. All of the area is contain of stones of massive volcanic rectangular. Those stone blocks spread and almost cover the top mount Padang area. The local people of surrounding area named some stone like Kiai Giling Pangancingan table, Eyang Swana, Ayeh Suhaedin alias Syeh Abdul Rusman, Stairs of Syeh Marzuki, and Syeh Abdul Fukor stone.

hopefully..... :-)

actually, this site is still remote to attract many tourists, and less popular among other tourist destinations in west java. some do visit it for academic research, adventure or just for sightseeing.

no.....it's in South Cianjur exactly. Maybe because of the name itself, gunung padang, just remembering you with similar word with Padang, Sumatra. heheee

Frankly this was the first time i've heard of the word which comes from ancient Greek.megas meaning great and lithos meaning stones.Hence megalithic refers to structures made of large stones utilizing an interlocking system without the use of mortar or cement.

that why i was so curious when we planned it last year.
